ZELL fractional laser
The fractional laser — also called micro-resurfacing — sends many separate columns of laser energy into the skin at regular intervals.
Q. How does it differ from the resurfacing lasers of the past?
Older resurfacing lasers treated the whole surface. The fractional laser leaves normal skin between the columns of heat — that is the difference.
Q. Does a fractional laser not make the skin thin and sensitive?
It is a common worry, but done properly the skin comes back firmer. Fractional laser is the treatment pores, scars, texture and tone genuinely need. What matters is a diagnosis that fits your skin, and an experienced hand.

"Fractional" describes only the way the laser energy is delivered to the skin. What that laser energy actually is has the greatest influence on the result. The energy sources in use today are varied: CO2, Er:YAG, plasma, radiofrequency and 1927nm thulium.
